Hi everyone,

I've decided to turn my FTP 'store' into a YUM repo, to make it more convenient for users to download, and more importantly stay up to date with community package version updates. This will only be relevant to version 5.2 as the new build system with 6.0 will permit community RPM's to be added automatically

EDIT: updated for ClearOS 6.x too (testing only)

It also saves me from having to amend download instructions every time an update is made on many threads :)

To that end the servers will sync up tonight (in about an hour or so), and some of the old download links / instructions will be wrong. By this time tomorrow I should have corrected these - but please be patient in the mean time

To install the repo first install the public key (yes all RPM's will now be signed):-
rpm --import ftp://timburgess.net/RPM-GPG-KEY-TimB.txt

Then install the release RPM (by default the 'timb' and 'timb-testing' repo's will be disabled)
ClearOS5.2
wget ftp://timburgess.net/repo/clearos/5.2/os/timb-release-1-0.noarch.rpm
rpm -Kv timb-release-1-0.noarch.rpm
rpm -Uvh timb-release-1-0.noarch.rpm

ClearOS 6.x
wget ftp://timburgess.net/repo/clearos/6/os/i386/timb-release-1-1.noarch.rpm
#OR for 64bit
wget ftp://timburgess.net/repo/clearos/6/os/x86_64/timb-release-1-1.noarch.rpm
rpm -Kv timb-release-1-1.noarch.rpm
rpm -Uvh timb-release-1-1.noarch.rpm

You can then install an app or RPM using a single one liner such as
yum --enablerepo=timb install app-backuppc

OR upgrade to a newer version by running
yum --enablerepo=timb upgrade BackupPC

For those that like to do it manually - you can still find all the RPM's here
http://download.clearfoundation.com/community/timb80/repo/clearos/5.2/
http://download.clearfoundation.com/community/timb80/repo/clearos/6/
ftp://timburgess.net/repo/clearos/5.2/
ftp://timburgess.net/repo/clearos/6/

Enjoy! feedback always welcome B)

The Clearcenter repos went a long time ago, as did Tim's, I am afraid. I am not aware of any other mirrors.

    Thank you for your advice.
Yes, I am aware of these problems that you have listed.
However, I still want to use 5.2 because it is on a secure LAN.
To do this, I need the latest updates to it.

Can you help with these updates?

ClearOS 5.2 went end of life in December 2015. It is currently full of vulnerabilities and should not be used.
ClearOS 6.9 went end of life in September 2019. It is also insecure and should not be used.
ClearOS 7.9 went end of life in June this year, but has had no updates since July 2022. It has a number of critical security vulnerabilities which should have been patched, but all fixes ceased when the last of the development and maintenance team left in 2022.

    I suggest you move on.

    Hi everyone ✋

I really need a repository for ClearOS 5.2.
Therefore, I spent several days searching for him and got acquainted with these publications:

    https://documentation.clearos.com/content:en_us:kb_howtos_adding_tim_s_repo

    https://dret.1237892.xyz/clearfoundation/social/community/clearos-5-2-and-6-x-yum-community-repo

and others, but unfortunately, the links to them no longer work

I also found an interesting link to repository 5.2:

    https://www.mmnt.net/db/0/0/download.clearfoundation.com/community/timb80/repo/clearos/5.2/os /" target="_blank">https://www.mmnt.net/db/0/0/download.clearfoundation.com/community/timb80/repo/clearos/5.2/os /
where repository 5.2 is demonstrated, but it is also impossible to download anything here.

This is a sad situation ?. Tell me, please, where can I download the full latest repository for 5.2 ?

    PS. I don't need versions 6.x.

Thanks Tim! So far so good.. When I first started looking into ClearOS I didn't realize that the repos were available for ver 6. Quite a selection!

There are a whole stack of programs in clearos-core (disabled by default) which pretty much mirrors what is available in the RHEL release. Also there is stuff in clearos-epel but you may have to be a bit careful with it (e.g. do not use ffmpeg from there, use the ClearOS version)

I am not sure if it is directly available in the repos, but for Dynamic DNS check out ddclient. There are posts on this forum. You will need to manually configure it (but that is the same in 5.2). Try "yum list ddclient --enablerepo=*" to search for it. Otherwise a standard el6 rpm from somewhere like rpmfind will work.

    Quick Question...

I just started using ClearOS, coming from PFsense... I see there are a ton of extra programs for version 5.2. Tim it is amazing how much you contributed to this community!

Are the extra "goodies" limited on ver 6? IT appears that some people are installing 5.2 programs on 6, but at the same time some people are having issues by doing so. I am very interested in customizing my system and there are a number of configuration changes I want to make right off the bat. For instance Dynamic DNS needs to be reconfigured so I can use NO-IP.org. I find it "interesting" that they lock it down to only use the built in service... can't see too many people really using just their own dyndns service.

Anyway should I just install 5.2 instead of 6, so I can configure my server to more my liking? Or are there a ton of ver 6 unofficial add-ons that I can use that I just have not stumbled upon yet...

    Thanks for everyone's help!

Two things...the instructions are for ClearOS 5.2 not 6.4 (the repo is not really setup for 6.x) and most of the packages there are for 5.2

Secondly - why are you upgrading Zarafa from a repo that is not meant to be installed on a 6.4 system, when you are trying to update PHP?

The version of PHP in ClearOS 6.4 is 5.3.3-22. So the base code is 5.3.3 but the upstream software security fixes are back ported to this version. So it's not fair to say it is insecure because of the version number. You can find out the latest rhel errata here
    https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/rhel-server-6-errata.html

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

Hi Nick, thats the only reason I keep the key and repo RPM linked direct to my domain, so I get a rough idea of how much use it gets. It just gives me a bit of satisfaction for the bandwidth I give up every month to host it :) The yum RPM downloads are spread across the clearfoundation mirrors, so I cant tell what gets used. For future ClearOS we'll have access to the automated build system, and there shouldn't be a need for external hosting.

For info I still get 800+ key downloads every month! (of which approx 600 are unique IPs) B)

@Kevin, by all means add the extra download link in case I get any more down time (fortunately this has been rare!)

    @Tim,

Unless you are trying to track downloads, would it be an idea to update the HowTo with the alternative locations?

    Nick

Don't use the WinSCP terminal. It is only really any use for quick commands. When you installed WinSCP, did you install PuTTY as well? (Try clocking the button to the right of the terminal button). PuTTY is great for console sessions. To copy text just highlight it. To paste text just right click.

    Hi all, hi Tim,

In first, thanks you very much for your work,

In second :) , I try to install Backup pc on my COS ; I can do it :

    Tim's Repo :
To install the repo first install the public key (yes all RPM's will now be signed) :-)
    rpm --import ftp://timburgess.net/RPM-GPG-KEY-TimB.txt
Then install the release RPM (by default the 'timb' and 'timb-testing' repo's will be disabled)
    wget ftp://timburgess.net/repo/clearos/5.2/os/timb-release-1-0.noarch.rpm
    rpm -Kv timb-release-1-0.noarch.rpm
    rpm -Uvh timb-release-1-0.noarch.rpm

When i try to install app, with WINSCP terminal, I tape ("copy/past, ahaha):
    yum --enablerepo=timb install app-backuppc

It can find the path, seems working, but after seconds, i have message of WINSCP :
Timeout 15second - and after nothing, it seems freeze.

This problem is available for all my installs (Attempts to install) :(

Do you have any idea about this issu ?

    Thanks you Tim.

    Best regards
